I cannot believe it has been so long since I have done a Music Monday for you all. I have so much new music I am loving!

This is not a plug because I am certainly NOT being paid to say this but I am addicted to Spotify! If you don't have it, you need it if you are a music lover like me. I don't know where I have been to not know about it before now.

Divergent - Veronica Roth

Hello Lovelies!

I'm so sorry I've been away for so long! Being a senior in college is just a little time consuming! But on the plus side I only have 48 days until graduation! WHAT? When did that happen? :)

So I know I'm a little late to this party but I finished Divergent last night! I read it because the movie looks like something I would like. Let's get started.

Summary 

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are--and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. Thoughts

I loved this book. It took me a couple of days to read it only because I had school and other things going on. If I didn't have any of those things going on, it would have taken me a few hours. I hated having to put it down. It's not like the other Utopian books I've read. There's no real hatred for the system right off the bat. She accepts what is happening and she gets to choose where she ends up. I kind of hate the initiation that begins it all but  I Tris' thought process through the whole thing.

I have to be honest my favorite part is when she meets Four. He is hardened by life and he doesn't see Tris as a little girl. I love their automatic banter. I love their relationship. I just love them if you can't tell. 

Tris chooses to be Dauntless and one of the brave. Tris is put into a dormitory with other transfers, teens who were not in Dauntless to start with, and put through initiation. She meets one of the leaders of the Dauntless, Eric, and I hate his guts. To be fair, you're suppose to, but still. 

I love the premise of this book and I can't wait to read the next one!

Wild Things ~ Clay Carmicheal

Hello Lovelies!

I am bringing a review today that is for a type of book I don't normally read. As most of you all probably know I am a student teacher and I am in a 5th grade classroom. Some of my 5th graders are reading this book at the moment and I fell in love with it. Let's get started!

Summary

A headstrong girl. A stray cat. A wild boy. A man who plays with fire. Eleven-year-old Zoe trusts no one. Her father left before she was born. At the death of her irresponsible mother, Zoe goes to live with her uncle, former surgeon and famed metal sculptor Dr. Henry Royster. She's sure Henry will fail her as everyone else has. Reclusive since his wife's death, Henry takes Zoe to Sugar Hill, North Carolina, where he welds sculptures as stormy as his moods. Zoe and Henry have much in common: brains, fiery and creative natures, and badly broken hearts. Zoe confronts small-town prejudice with a quick temper. She warms to Henry's odd but devoted friends, meets a mysterious teenage boy living wild in the neighboring woods, and works to win the trust of a feral cat while struggling to trust in anyone herself. In this ALA Notable Children's Book and "Kirkus Reviews "Best Children's Book of the Year, Zoe's questing spirit leads her to uncover the wild boy's identity, lay bare a local lie, and begin to understand the true power of Henry's art. Then one decisive night, she and the boy risk everything in a reckless act of heroism.

Thoughts

9 out of 10!

I love this book! I read it in one day because I honestly couldn't put it down. It is written on a 5th grade reading level so it was not difficult to read in any stretch of the word.  

Zoe is an eleven year old girl who just lost her mother and always been one to look after and take care of herself. I have never faced as hard of a life as Zoe has but I connected with this character because the author is so detailed about what she goes through and how she thinks. 

The other feature of this book I love is that every so often throughout the story you get a stray cat's point of view about what is happening around the house. He does not seem to be too interested at first and it is quite a transformation within the cat itself.

I think people of all ages will love this book because it honestly deals with issues that everyone deals with at one point or another in their lives. This book is something that families can read together or you can simply speed through it like I did on Friday. 

The only reason why this did not get a 10 out of 10 is because it is not the kind of book I would reread. I would definitely recommend it to everyone I know though, wholeheartedly.

So today is a very busy day for me so this is going to be a very short post. I have been listening to so much new music lately. I shared so much with you guys last week I'm going to keep this one on the shorter side and bring my obsession down to 5.

Ready for the Weekend? 11.22.13

Hello Lovelies!

This is going to be a very short post because I have no time to read this weekend but I wanted to send out good vibes to all of you! I am approaching the end of the semester and as any college student knows - the pressure is on!

Sick days....

Hello Lovelies!

So I have been sick in the bed since Saturday and I have been watching Netflix like it's my job and that is about it. I want to be in a reading mood. But the truth is, I'm not. Well let's be honest, I'm not in a reading for the first time mood. I have been rereading books lately because I am honestly stuck in a rut as far as books go. I cannot for the life of me pick a new book to get sucked into. I have tons of book sitting patiently on my shelves waiting to be read and I cannot pick one. 

I hate when I get into these ruts. I am actually getting tired of my go to books which is scaring me just a little because I honestly will have NOTHING to read if they get stale. So I thought instead of a review I will tell you what I've been reading while sick in bed the past week (well almost week). 

These are my go to romance books and I love them to pieces. 

To my wonderful surprise I have reviewed every one of these books! The link is attached to the picture so just click on the cover and it will take you to the review. 

I have read all of these books books more than twice each and I love them all. They give me that giddy feeling when something goes right and that sinking pit in my stomach when something goes wrong. I love books that do this because it makes me as the reader feel more involved in the story. Four out of these six books I have on my Kindle and I don't think I paid more than five dollars for each of them.
